Our Story

Our story began in 1998 when our little dog Ben was diagnosed with severe food allergies and put on a special hypo allergenic diet.  Unfortunately, there were not many dog treats that were hypo allergenic available that Ben could eat.  He seemed to have an allergic reaction to all of the store bought treats. That year for Christmas my sister gave me a homemade dog treat recipe book as a gift and said,  "Maybe you can bake something for Ben".  That night, I baked my first batch of  "Wheat Free Oatmeal + Apple Bones" for little Ben - he was so excited!  I created my own wheat free dog treats by changing  some of the ingredients from the recipes in the book.  Ben loved them and he did not suffer any allergic reactions. Over the years, I created more of my own recipes for our family dogs, and for the dogs of family and friends.  I often wondered if I should offer my treats to all dogs.

In 2010, my spouse came home with a bag of homemade dog treats that a friend was making and selling. It was at that very moment that I knew DOG Bones should be in every household that owns a dog!  After a year of research and perfection of my recipes, DOG Bones was born in the fall of 2011.  DOG Bones was created with two purposes.  One, was to bake the healthiest dog treats for your dog, the other, was to give back a percent of our profits to local animal causes.   We strive to reach these goals everyday.  We know how important our pets are and how much dogs give to our society - as guide dogs, rescue dogs, family dogs and companions.

Thank you to all our customers and doggie friends for helping to make our vision for DOG Bones a reality.  We are so grateful!
